Well, all this happened because hackers have injected malicious code onto the website. A OnePlus staff member wrote on company’s online forums on Friday “One of our systems was attacked, and a malicious script was injected into the payment page code to sniff out credit card info while it was being entered” “The malicious script operated intermittently, capturing and sending data directly from the user’s browser. It has since been eliminated”. Well, the company says that users who have entered the credit card details on the website “between mid-November 2017 and January 11, 2019” are likely to be impacted. The post further said “We cannot apologise enough for letting something like this happen. We are eternally grateful to have such a vigilant and informed community, and it pains us to let you down” Right now OnePlus is reaching the likely affected customers directly and it’s working with local authorities to sort out the ongoing incident. Therefore, if you have also entered your credit card details on the OnePlus website between November 2017 and January 2019, then requesting a fresh card from your bank would be a good idea.
